Zachary Salman has been playing alto saxophone since 2010 and has been active in marching/pep bands and wind ensembles throughout his university studies, particularly the University of Vermont Pep Band, the Shepherd University Ram Band and Wind Ensemble, and the Morgan Community Concert Band (Berkeley Springs, West Virginia). As a high school student, he attended the Mountaineer Music Leadership Academy at West Virginia University in 2016.

In November 2021, he was initiated as a brother in the newly-formed Xi Alpha chapter of Kappa Kappa Psi Honorary Band Fraternity.

In January 2022, Zachary manually digitized sheet music for two piano pieces written about and dedicated to Berkeley Springs, Virginia in 1851 and 1857.
